Han Solo movie suffers yet another loss.
Change is afoot yet again on the new Han Solo film. After the replacement of directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller with new director Ron Howard it has now been revealed that it’s lost one of its actors as well. Michael K. Williams who is best known for his roles in Boardwalk Empire and The Wire has revealed to Deadline that he has had to leave the project after scheduled reshoots clashed with his other projects including The Red Sea Diving Resort which is currently being shot in South Africa with Williams along with Chris Evans who also stars.
The actor told Deadline,
“I felt great about what I created with the directors I worked with. It is what it is. We created a kick ass character, in my opinion. I’m proud of it. When Ron Howard got hired to finish out the film, there were some reshoot issues that needed to be done in regards to my character, in order for it to match the direction which the producers wanted Ron to carry the film in and that would’ve required me on a plane to London a month ago to Pinewood to do the reshoots but I’m here on location in South Africa.”
The actor also added that his schedule would’ve had a major impact on the film’s release date;
“I’m not going to be back on the market until the end of November and for them to wait for me would have pushed back the release date, which I believe is May 2018.”
It’s unknown if Williams’ half human, half animal untitled role will be recast or simply cut from the film altogether but Williams hopes that his days in the Star Wars universe aren’t over just yet;
“I don’t think that me not being in the Star Wars family is final. I left with a very good taste in my mouth about the whole family. They’re a great group of people, the Lucas family.”
The Han Solo movie is scheduled for release May 25th 2018.
