Daniel Craig adds fuel to the fire regarding rumours of his future as Bond.
Recently it was reported that Daniel Craig had signed a multi million dollar deal to reprise his role as James Bond for the fifth and possibly even sixth time. However the actor has now cast doubt upon the story. Craig who once said that “he’d rather slash his wrists” than reprise the role of the secret agent, seemed to be warming to the idea but still seems to be undecided.
Whilst promoting his latest offering, Steven Soderburgh’s Lucky Logan, the inevitable question of Bond came up. Speaking to the Morning Magic radio show, the actor said,
“No decision has been made at the moment, there’s a lot of noise out there and nothing official has been confirmed and I’m not like holding out for more money or doing anything like that. It’s just all very personal decisions to be made at the moment. I know they’re desperate to get going and I would in theory love to do it, but there is no decision just yet.”
Craig has proven a popular choice as Bond both critically and financially but rumours of on-set production problems on his last 007 outing, 2015’s SPECTRE seemed to have influenced his decision to leave the role. At this stage little is known about Bond 25, which hasn’t even been officially granted a title yet. Though there are rumors that it is going under the working title of Shatterhand and may feature a blind villain.
What is known is that Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who wrote the last six James Bond movies together, are returning once again to write the story and that Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli will once again produce. No director or cast have been announced and it’s still a possibility that the official 25th Bond film will feature a new actor in the lead.
