DC Comics have big plans for Batman’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
This year sees the 80 year anniversary of Batman and DC comics are planning to go all-out to help the Caped Crusader celebrate. Batman’s official anniversary is on on March 30th, while Batman Day will take place on September 21st.
Two anniversary comics are set to be released, a hardcover of Detective Comics: 80 Years Of Batman – The Deluxe Edition on the March 19th, and an extra-length Detective Comics No. 1000 on March 27th but that’s just the start. DC Comics have also announced plans to celebrate Batman’s 80th anniversary, involving worldwide bat-signals and the flying of bats across Texas!
Batman’s 80th is set to be celebrated with a series of events this year, kicking off at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas next week with a special exhibit featuring limited edition merchandise, photo opportunities and the unveiling of a new mural. During the event, DC are also planning to fly 1.5 million bats over the Congress Bridge in the city.
More events are planned throughout the rest of the year, with many happening across Warner Bros. theme parks, as well as an art exhibition at the MONDO gallery in Austin, Madame Tussauds celebrations in Orlando and Sydney and special programming throughout March and September on Cartoon Network.
This year’s Batman Day will officially be on September 21st and will also be the most ambitious yet, with many cities around the world getting shining bat-signals set to light their night skies.
