Rumour Mill – Will Kevin Bacon play Freddie Krueger in yet another Elm Street reboot?
After 2010’s unsuccessful reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street featuring Jackie Earl Haley as horror icon Freddie Krueger, it appeared that the dream demon’s days (or should that be nights?) of terrifying pretty teenagers were over, but the original Fedora wearing monster, Robert Englund, has perhaps let slip a rather unexpected reboot idea and even has a new actor in mind. Speaking to Cinemablend recently, the 70 year old actor had this to say;
“Well the gossip I’ve heard, and I don’t know how valid this is, but there has been some talk about using, or perhaps he’s been approached, Kevin Bacon. Yeah. I think that would be great. He’s in one of my favorite little horror movies, Stir of Echoes, and you should check it out if you haven’t seen in. And I just think Kevin’s the right size. I think he respects horror movies. He doesn’t make fun of them. I think it would be real interesting.”
No word from studio New Line Cinema on whether this is actually a proposed project but interestingly Kevin Bacon has previously expressed an interest in playing Freddy if the situation should ever arise. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we hear more to substantiate this little rumour, unless of course this was all just a dream.
Robert Englund is backing Kevin Bacon strongly and Bacon has a history of bringing that x-factor to horror thriller movies so he might just pull it off as the new Freddy Krueger.
