Wrong Reel Episode 320 – 25 Years of Quentin Tarantino.
Here at Film ’89 we’re big fans of film related podcasts and in our opinion there isn’t a better podcast show than the phenomenal Wrong Reel created and hosted by one of the most passionate and knowledgeable cinephiles out there, James Hancock. Wrong Reel has been going strong for three years having released their first episode in September 2014 and they are now on their 320th episode. This incredible rate of output is down to the hard work and commitment of James who has established a huge community, the Wrong Reel Community if you will, made up of the show’s innumerable recurring guests and contributers.
The list of guests James has had on the show includes Lisi Tribble Russell (wife of the late, great British director Ken Russell), actors Mathew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, Stranger Things), Bill Sage (American Psycho), Xander Berkeley (Terminator 2, Heat) and David Proval (Mean Streets, The Sopranos). The show’s recurring guests are the cream of the cinephile crop and are more often than not experts in varied aspects of film and television, be it production, writing, marketing or podcasting amongst others. The sheer variety of topics covered is mind boggling, from Ingmar Bergman to Lucio Fulci, from Powell & Pressberger to the Rocky franchise, no topic is off limits to Wrong Reel and the show is like having a portable and highly entertaining film school to hand.
I have had the privilege of appearing on Wrong Reel on six occasions since December 2016 and have appeared twice with my friend and fellow Film ’89 writer, Steve Amos. Our most recent appearance is the latest episode, episode 320 where James, Steve and I take the deep dive into the directorial career of one of the most beloved modern day auteurs, Quentin Tarantino.
Wrong Reel is available on iTunes and Stitcher. Follow the link below and follow Wrong Reel on Twitter and Facebook. It was a pleasure to collaborate once more with James and we hope you enjoy the episode.
